Our club had an outdoor meeting and picnic lunch at the Moama Echuca Botanical Gardens in Moama on a showery Wednesday. Guided tour by The Friends Of The Gardens was very informative on how this started. All indigenous plants to the Riverina area. There is a boardwalk, wet billabong, and a dry billabong shaped like a fish graduated to mimic different levels of water with grass plantings on the very top. A beautiful bronze statue of a ballerina was donated to the gardens by David Maughan. A citrus orchard , grape arbor with gorgous autumn colour with seating to enjoy the ambience. A well was built by hand with many rocks. A new rock wall spiral just now being planted and fighting the numerous rabbits will be a wonderful place to sit once the canopy and seats are placed. The Murray Shire Parks and Gardens staff and Friends of The Botanical Gardens keep it maintained. With a great Adventure Playground for children to enjoy and plenty of bbq’s and seating. An enjoyable asset to our twin towns. We also had a tree planting for the late Queen’s Jubilee Year which was delayed due to Covid. And the rain held off until the tour was over!!
