WELL HERE WE ARE HALFWAY THROUGH THE YEAR ALREADY. Sorry I haven’t put much on this year. We had our first meeting in February with a shared lunch well attended and enjoyed by all. We made a VALENTINE THEME FLOWER ARRANGEMENT with our members voting on the winner.
MARCH ~ We had shared car pool to the BALLARAT BEGONIA FESTIVAL which was outstanding, the weather was sunny and warm, we enjoyed the beautiful displays of blooms both in the garden and greenhouse. The guest speakers were Costa and Millie from Gardening Australia, so well spoken and informative. We had a table at the Discovery Day at the Echuca Library to showcase our wonderful garden club to any new comers to our towns. Guest SPEAKER WAS CRAIG CASTREE SPEAKING ON SOIL HEALTH AND SEED SAVING TIPS. The day was very hot so we were glad of our position under the canopy, with much interest shown and plant giveaways well received.
APRIL ~ We are working on a yearly program to have speaker or workshop organised in advance. Rhonda has organised a bulk order with NEUTROG IN MAY so a few of us took advantage of the cheaper prices for their products, such as WHO FLUNG DUNG, ETC. The workshop for this month was making a rope hanging planter. lots of fun had by all. SALVIA cuttings were brought by members to share, very popular with many colours. Once again our trading table is bursting and selling well.
MAY~ At this meeting it was decided we would have PLANT SALE in OCTOBER 2026. All members to begin growing pots of garden plants of any kind to sell. Our SPEAKER for our JUNE MEETING will be Jenny Mustey from the Echuca LIBRARY to highlight what activities are available at your library. We also thank the trading and afternoon tea volunteers, it definitely helps out the committee. MEMBERS were to bring along a tried and tested GARDEN TIP to share. SOME GREAT IDEAS, PARTICULARY ON RECYCLING GOT THE NOD. WE also brought along GERANIUM CUTTINGS TO SHARE. ALWAYS DELICIOUS afternoon tea especially the GINGER FLUFF from Carol W. We currently have 441 followers on our FACEBOOK PAGE. HOPEFULLY WE GET SOME DECISIONS REGARDING THE RAILWAY BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT WITH KEEP AUSTRALIA BEAUTIFUL GROUP, it has been two years waiting for V-LINE to give permission!! A meeting is set for wednesday 4 June.
